Here's a few ideas that have served me well over the years to keep my drum loops sounding fat, interesting, grooving and popping. All the buzz words at once!
Bit of a journey on this one today but I thought it could be useful to show a bit more of my process when writing a drum loop. For this one I tried using some ideas from a Randomer video I saw a few years ago. The plan was to use samples that aren't actually drums and then make the loop from that.
One of the biggest differences between professional and amateur sounding drums is the use of layering multiple samples to make one sound. In this tutorial I will give you some examples of how you might use a variety of sounds to create an interesting, thick and punchy drum loop.
Today I am going to go through the process of warping and slicing up a drum break so you can play all it's sections on a sampler.
