Last session we got this one arranged up and tweaked things a bit. Then we added in some FX to keep the transitions interesting. Now it's on to the mix down. There's quite a lot going on with this one so it will be interesting to see how we can make it all fit together nicely.

Heya everyone, Hope you're all good. For the upcoming live streams I thought it could be useful to show me mixing down someone else's work. If you would like me to mix down one of your tracks live then please send me a streamable and downloadable bounce of a track that you have finished writing but haven't mixed yet, or one that you have mixed but can't get it to sound right. Fire that over to me at [email protected] by this Sunday the 27th of November and I will listen through them and pick one to mix starting next week....
Mix down is very nearly done. Let's get this locked off and then take a look at the Echo Shaper project.
I often find that when I am sent music for feedback that the panning can be a bit all over the place so I thought I would give some suggestions on how I like to use panning in my tracks.
The writing is complete and now it's time to mix this puppy down. I've got the project loaded up in Logic and it's ready to roll.
One of the easiest mistakes one can make when writing a track is filling it up with lots of extra elements. It can seem in the moment like more = better but often that is not the case. Stripping a loop back to it's basic components often illuminates the groove that you fell in love with in the first place. Another mistake that I come across a lot is over using reverb. It can sound good on parts when you have them soloed but once you try and integrate them into a busy mix if often just swamps the soundscape...
Poisson Croissant is written and now it's time for the mix down. I've decided to try the mix in Ableton again for the first time in a while so I can use some new M4L devices.
Knowing how to mix your track is essential but before that stage you need to make sure you are making the right decisions in regards to which elements you use. Careful selection here will save you a lot of headaches later on. Guaranteed.
